Why I'm standing

Why I'm standing for the London Assembly

"London has a strong hold on my emotions - it is my home. I love the diversity, energy and vibrancy which make it such a wonderfully exciting place to live.

I grew up in London, went to school and university in London and have lived and worked across London.

London is where I belong and nothing would give me greater pleasure or more pride than to be part of the body that oversees its governance.

However, whilst London is a unique multi religious and multi ethnic city of seven million inhabitants living and working together mostly peacefully, it does not escape the multitude of problems faced by thriving metropolises; but its unrivalled position in the world does give it a unique opportunity to be at the cutting edge of issues, pushing forward difficult and challenging agendas and carving out a niche for itself that sets a global gold standard for what can be achieved with vision and the will to see it through.

Our throbbing capital city faces constant strains on its infrastructure and institutions, and we need innovative, radical yet workable strategic thinking. With a positive attitude, clear goals and a well though out strategy together we can do great things for London - all with a distinctly Liberal Democrat stamp."
